Calendar and Bits

Photos October 28th, 2009

I have narrowed down this year’s pictures to 30 pictures that I like the most for a calendar.  I now need to narrow it down to 13.  The 13th one is for the cover, that is why 13. I kept most of the photos to the ones taken in the past year, a couple are from late last fall.  I sent in a “testing calendar” just to see how the prints would turn out.  I didn’t order it with the extra heavy stock paper or anything fancy.  I just wanted to see how they did for printing and I was quite happy with them.  I than decided I would make up a calendar of various things you would find in Cavalier County if you passed through.

Narrowing down the pictures was harder than I thought it was gonna be.  I fired up picasa, love that program for indexing pictures.  I started scrolling down in picasa and you soon realize how many pictures one takes in a year. I noticed tho, compared to last year 2008, I took way more people photos.  My landscaping pictures were way down compared to 2008.  I’m sure the weather had something to do with it also.  We only had a handful of really nice days.  So as I sorted them out, I thought why not make a youtube video.  Take Me Home, Country Roads by John Denver just fits the whole situation.

I was able to get out to Minot, ND over the past weekend and visit Darwin.  I wasn’t feeling the best as I battle this sinus infection and the weather was cold and rainy, but we were able to get out and do some pictures and do some shopping and top it off with a splash in the pool at the hotel.  Ally was able to come along, but CJ had to work so she didn’t make it.  Pic above is of Ally and big brother in the pool.  Talk about low light conditions in the pool area, yikes.  Pic from the Scandinavian Heritage Center we went through:

We definitely need to do this again when the weather is nicer.  It’s kinda funny tho, every time Darwin comes home it rains here and than when I go out there it rains there.  It must be a cruel joke of old mother nature. Darwin comes home in mid-November, see what  happens with weather than.
